Excelsior Scholarship Information
NYS Scholarships for Academic Excellence
Students will be nominated by the high school based on their class rank. Scholarships will be available to award recipients pending the appropriation of State funds during the 2023 session of the NYS Legislature.
May Deadline –
Naomi L. Dyer Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is for one graduating high school female senior who plans to obtain a degree in a STEM related field or elementary education. Must be attending SUNY Oneonta or Binghamton University. Deadline: May 10, 2024
Tess Savage Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is for a graduating senior who is planning to enter the field of early childhood education and/or the human services field. This scholarship is created in memory of Tess (Butts) Savage, a graduate in the class of 1994 at Harpursville. Deadline: May 15, 2024
Sgt. Lawrence D. Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc.: This scholarship is in memory of Binghamton native Marine Sgt. Lawrence David Peters. This is for graduating Broome County high school seniors who are children or grandchildren of veterans who are residents of Broome County or were at the time of their death. (This application needs to be mailed) Deadline: May 15, 2024
Hornet Pride Award in memory of Amy Livermore: This will be awarded to a senior who has demonstrated love and pride within
the community. Examples could be, participating in various clubs at school such as yearbook, Yorkers, French, Theater,
Technology, etc., showing support teammates/classmates by attending athletic games, plays and other school sponsored events.

Harpursville Youth Sports Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to senior who has participated in a HYSA, HYB and/or
HYCA sports program and has donated their time and talents back to help the HYSA. This is in memory of Tracie Livermore by
the Harpursville Youth Civic Association. Deadline: May 17, 2024
Progressive Dental Community Scholarship: This scholarship is to recognize and support high school seniors who demonstrate both academic excellence and a strong commitment to community service. Five students will be selected to receive $500 each to assist them in pursuing their college education. Deadline: May 17, 2024
PTO Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to eight graduating seniors. To be eligible you must have completed two hours of volunteer time during EACH of your 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. The volunteer time can be from any school or community program, but cannot be used at the same time for graduation requirements or course credits. Deadline: May 31, 2024
BOCES Adult Education Scholarships: Broome-Tioga BOCES annually offers each component school district one adult education
scholarship for a student who graduated the previous June and is interested in enrolling in a September adult education course.

This scholarship is to honor the students who are career driven, highly motivated, B or below average students
by providing a scholarship form that recognizes and supports their determination. The commitment to honoring
Makai Wilkinson's impact on the world through love, leadership, and education is eloquently expressed through

Jim Bryden Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is for college-bound and trade school-bound students pursuing a career in the fields related to historic preservation, such as architecture, urban planning, construction, etc. This can be up to $2,000 scholarships to area seniors. Deadline: June 1, 2024
Healthcare Workers for Our Future Scholarship: This is a scholarship for a two year scholarship to approximately 500 selected recipients covering tuition, room and board, and other related expenses in an approved program of study at any approved New York state public or private college or university. https://www.governor.ny.gov/programs/healthcare-workers-our-future-scholarship Deadline June 24, 2024

GHS / New York Credit Union Association Scholarship: This scholarship is available to high school seniors who are planning to attend a two or four year accredited educational institution or vocational/trade school in the fall of 2024. Those applying must also be a member of GHS Federal Credit Union.
