The Class of 2022 and the Class of 1972 breakfast June 10, 2022

On one of their last days of school ever – and one of their first days back after being out of school FIFTY years - a joyous occasion was shared this morning where we served up breakfast and positive vibes all around!

Many of the members of the class of 2022 joined early this morning for a small parade through WAO Elementary to wave goodbye to their former teachers and provide the younger students with a glimpse of days to come…their own special graduation celebration one day, dressed in cap and gown.

As the seniors were finished, they walked into the high school gold gym which was decked out in blue and gold and the schools finest china!  Greeting them there were members of our staff, faculty and administration as well as our special guests, the alumni from the Class of 1972 along with school board member Michelle Noyes.  A delicious breakfast was enjoyed by all.  For many, it will be one of their last days together and for some, it was one of their first days back after fifty years out.   No doubt there are and were stories to be told!

Senior Nico Hadlick bravely took the podium at one point to bid farewell to Augustin Weil our French foreign exchange student who had been fully immersed in our programs and community over the past several weeks.  We sincerely hope the experience has been wonderful for Augustin!  Many thanks to Mr. Blendinger, French, for coordinating the entire experience for Augustin! …and bravo to Nico for speaking at the podium!

Many thanks to the team that collectively put the event together, from the facilities department for gathering equipment, to the weightlifting students who helped during set up, to food service for prepping a delicious meal from start to finish - also to the administration and faculty that served at the event (and to those that covered their absences so that they could do so!).

We are so pleased with the number of 50-year anniversary alumni that we hosted - Doug Kosty, LuAnn Stone, Marleen Clark, Marshall Beecher, Bob Blakeslee, Judy Smith Clark, Clarence & Sally Washburn, Jacob Miner and Marty Niles - and we are so grateful they attended with our current graduating class!  We even received a 'thank you' note later that day telling us how much they enjoyed it!  Best of luck to the Class of 2022 and we wish the Class of 1972 continued good health and happiness!
