Summer Reading

Students taking Academic Writing II have two texts to read over the summer.

The first is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Album which is the true story of a man meeting with his former professor (dieing of ALS) about the meaning of life. This may sound like quite a depressing read, but in actuality most students find it uplifting.

The second book is Crime and Punishment by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky. This is psychological criminal thriller--one of the first. This book will require that students really plan out their reading schedule this summer to complete the work. I've attached the handout the students received which has a list of the characters from Crime and Punishment. It is good to keep this handy as the Russian names can be at times confusing.

Have fun reading!
