The Hornets volleyball team won the program’s first-ever sectional title, sweeping undefeated Tioga 3-0 at Owego Free Academy November 1. The girls went on to beat Lafayette at Cicero-North Syracuse High School to take the Region 3 championship.With the Section IV, Class D, and Region 3 trophies well in hand, the 20-0 Lady Hornets earned the team's first-ever trip to the state semi-finals at Glenns Falls Civic Center.
Not only were the sectional and regional wins a first for Harpursville, but they also are firsts for a MAC team, as a scheduling change just four years ago enabled MAC teams to play volleyball as a fall sport instead of in the winter.
