Dean sparks all-star victory, earns 'Elite 24' and All-State selection

Hornet’s senior quarterback Devon Dean wrapped up his high school football career in true winning fashion.

Representing the Hornets in his final game at the 2014 Ernie Davis Exceptional Senior Classic, Dean came home with the Offensive Player of the Game trophy. In that contest, he passed for one touchdown and ran for another. His two scores led the way for the East as they defeated the West 28-7. The 25th edition of the annual all-star game brought together the top senior football players from Section IV.

Dean, who plans to attend SUNY Morrisville, also became the first football player in Harpursville school history to be selected as a member of the Elite 24 Team. At the conclusion of each high school season, the “Press & Sun Bulletin” selects an all-star team from among Section IV football players. Dean’s contributions as quarterback, linebacker, and punter made him a consensus choice for this prestigious group.

Capping a remarkable high school career, Dean was also named to the All-State Class D First Team by the New York State Sports Writers Association.
