Harpursville team wins robotics competition

A team from Harpursville took top prize at the fifth annual Robotics Competition on March 11 at SUNY Broome.

After scoring in the top eight in the qualifying round, both Harpursville teams advanced to the championship bracket of the “Head 2 Head Robotics Challenge.” The “VEXBOT” robot team of John Andrews, Devlin Rolston, Colton West and Peter Mutz went on to win the challenge by beating 17 teams from six area schools. The VEXBOT, a design inspired from a corn harvester, dominated the field over the four rounds as the team set the day’s three highest scores and four of the top five overall scores.
